VOLUNTEERISM ~ It's the heart and soul of our organization. The Greater Myrtle Beach Community has blessed us with an abundance of talents and skills in order to serve the hungry. These people provide a much needed service to those who are hungry by serving over 70,000 meals in 2009, at no cost to homeless and lower income individuals and families. These meals help nourish the body and spirit of those in need. Working poor families, parents of young children and the elderly are among those who need our assistance to make ends meet.

The number of homeless people who eat at the Community Kitchen is rising and has reached over 300 people daily. We expect these numbers to continue to climb as economic pressures heighten and employment decreases. More and more people come to Myrtle Beach with the hopes of finding jobs, but find instead that they cannot afford area housing. Consequently they find themselves "stuck" in a hopeless situation.

FUNDRAISING ~ It takes money to fuel the engine of charity. It takes "stuff" to make the Community Kitchen successful at feeding the area's hungry.  We often receive much needed items from the public and businesses.  However, when those items are not readily available, we have to go out and purchase them.  In addition to the day to day meals, there are overhead expenses that are addressed by organizers.  There are four fundemental ways to help our fundraising efforts: 1. Contribute to us by clicking on the donation link at the top of the pages, requesting our mailer or make a "gift" donation for a loved one or friend. 2. Organize and Sponsor a fundraising event, much like the "Joe's Lunch Bunch" or helping with collection tables such as "Sam's Club".   3. Participate in one of our fundraising events that you can find on this page to the right. 4. Raise awareness about the areas hungry by telling your friends, neighbors and loved ones.
