It's hard to imagine that there are people in Myrtle Beach who go hungry each day. The Community Kitchen of Myrtle Beach provides a much needed service to those who are hungry by serving over 70,000 meals in 2009, at no cost to homeless and lower income individuals and families. These meals help nourish the body and spirit of those in need. Working poor families, parents of young children and the elderly are among those who need our assistance to make ends meet.

The number of homeless people who eat at the Community Kitchen is rising and has reached over 300 people daily. We expect these numbers to continue to climb as economic pressures heighten and employment decreases. More and more people come to Myrtle Beach with the hopes of finding jobs, but find instead that they cannot afford area housing. Consequently they find themselves "stuck" in a hopeless situation.
